Saturday we were lucky enough to reserve a spot to see a preview of the Magic Kingdom New Fantasyland Preview at Walt Disney World.
We’re big Disney fans, and have had season passes about three out of the five years we’ve lived in Florida. My family made Walt Disney World a regular vacation spot, so to me, it’s more than just a theme part — it’s as part of my childhood. I feel really blessed that I can bring Luke here to experience it so often. I hope he never takes that for granted.
Magic Kingdom New Fantasyland is based on several beloved movies: Beauty and the Beast; The Little Mermaid; Dumbo; and Snow White.
We were able to experience the Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid sections of the park (The Seven Dwarves Mining ADventure won’t open until 2014 and is still under construction) — enjoy the Magic Kingdom New Fantasyland pictures! At the entrance of Magic Kingdom New Fantasyland is the adorable French village from Beauty and the Beast.
Visitors to the Magic Kingdom New Fantasyland will first experience Maurice’s Cottage and the Tales with Belle attraction:
The actual cottage is just part of the queue for the Tales with Belle attraction, but they spared nothing with the details here. It’s like you stepped into the story. Highlights included a photo of a young Belle with her mother, the height chart on the wall (in French!), and a checkerboard with chairs stacked with books. As you move through the cottage living space, you enter Maurice’s workshop. The walls are lined with Maurice’s invention blueprints; the lights hanging from the ceiling are used items (the original upcycler!) like broken buckets. The mirror at the front of the workshop looks like a regular mirror, but transforms into a portal to Beast’s Castle high in the mountains. The attraction itself starts soon after — more of a meet-and-greet and performance than a ride, which we didn’t expect.
The wait for this attraction was long, even during the preview event. Expect long lines here. Hopefully they will get a FastPass in place, because it seems like Tales with Belle will be extremely popular, especially among the princess lovin’ crowd.
More Magic Kingdom New Fantasyland pictures! Around the corner is Gaston’s Tavern:
This quick service restaurant has pastries, pork legs and this A-MAZE-ING drink made from frozen apple juice, TOASTED MARSHMALLOW and passion fruit and mango topping. GAH. Delish. Why I haven’t already frozen apple juice before on my own I’ll never know. The inside looked JUST like his tavern from the movie, including that HUGE chair he sits in during the song…three of us fit into it.
You can see Beast’s Castle in almost all the Magic Kingdom New Fantasyland pictures — which is something I just LOVE about Disney. You dont’ actually go into the castle, but the Be Our Guest restaurant is located right below.
The “dining room” of the Be Our Guest restaurant looks JUST like in the movie when Belle and Beast are dancing! The details are amazing. The ceiling is painted to look like the ceiling in the movie and there are three gorgeous chandeliers. There is quick service dining during lunch hours and at night the Be Our Guest restaurant turns into a sit-down restaurant with a pretty French menu. Here are some of the amazing details (click to make it bigger — it’s totally worth it):
Next stop on our Magic Kingdom New Fantasyland picture tour was Eric’s castle and the Voyage of the Little Mermaid attraction.
The Voyage of the Little Mermaid is a dark ride that tells the story of Ariel and her friends. I’ll post the video of the ride tomorrow, but here are the Magic Kingdom New Fantasyland pictures of the Voyage of the Little Mermaid:
All in all, the Magic Kingdom New Fantasyland preview event was everything I expected it to be. I”ve been watching it go up during every visit to Disney, and to see it open is just amazing. For a girl who thinks Beauty and the Beast and the Little Mermaid are two of the best Disney movies EVER (and who know every single word), Magic Kingdom New Fantasyland was a fantastic experience.
Dumbo had its opening a month or two ago, and the additional sections of the Magic Kingdom New Fantasyland will be opening in early December to the public.
Are you excited for the Magic Kingdom New Fantasyland opening? Will you check it out on your next trip to Disney?
