Welcome to the first official post for It’s Blogworthy U! I’ll be blogging about my favorite products, recipes, clothes and sharing tips and tricks for all the things I love, from shopping to social media!
If you know me, you know my love for puttin’ my face on.
Now I can go all day without lipstick. I can stick my hair in a bun and not wash it all weekend (judge away….) I can forego blush for days on end.
I almost never go out without mascara. It’s just my “thing”.
I’m very picky with my mascara. I want my eyes to look a certain way. for this reason, combined with my perfectionist tendencies, frugality, inability to change and short eyelashes, I’ve used the same mascara since 10th grade except for the one time I tried another brand and almost never forgave myself.
Lately when I post pictures of myself (GAH I hate that I just typed that because it sounds incredibly self-centered), at least one person asks what kind of mascara I use. So here I am sharing my secrets with you. You’re welcome.
I like full lashes rather than long, and Loreal Voluminous definitely does the trick. Voluminous is available in two brush types: straight and curved, a variety of colors from brown to dark black and in waterproof and original. You only need one coat, it’s nice and dark, doesn’t smudge and the best part? You can remove it with regular facial cleaner or soap (if you’re not using the waterproof version).
Oh, yeah, the cost is nice, too.
If I could marry Loreal Voluminous mascara and have its babies, I totally would.
Cost: $5 to $7
Availability: any drug or discount store (Walmart or Target)
My Voluminous Color Choice: Blackest Black, regular version, straight brush
Loreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes
I’m cheating on you with Voluminous False Fiber Lashes. I guess technically it’s your brother. I’m so sorry. It’s not you, it’s me. And my eyelashes. And my vanity. And I had a coupon.
I never thought any mascara could pull me away from ye olde fav. But admittedly, I do enjoy false eyelashes. I wish I had some rich people friends who could invite me to swanky parties so I could glue up the ol’ eyeballs, but alas, it’s just me, hubby and some lame Disney Channel show every Friday night.
False lashes at work feel inappropriate, unless my work is, you know, that kind of work, but this? Is the next best thing.
I was skeptical at first. I’ve tried the mascaras that promise a “false lash look” and was disappointed. Voluminous False Fiber Lashes does exactly what it says. It not only lengthens, not only curls, but also makes my lashes look super full and dark. Voluminous False Fiber Lashes comes in the same colors as Voluminous, but is not available in original (only waterproof).
The stuff lasts for days. I mean, literally, it’s taken an entire weekend for it to wear off after several washings. I had to break down and buy mascara remover.
That very positive of Voluminous False Fiber Lashes is also a negative for me. I typically like my mascara to be more easily removed than this. Even the mascara remover doesn’t get every bit off my lashes, leaving the occasional small clump.
However, to me, this is a small price to pay.
I really do love this mascara. I knew it would take a lot to try out something new, but I’ll definitely be buying it again.
Cost: $7 to $10
Availability: any drug or discount store
My Voluminous False Fiber Lashes choice: Black
For the record, I was not compensated at all for this post and the opinions I’ve expressed are all my own. I just really love this product and love helping my friends find ways to feel beautiful.
